Recent technological development has allowed patient’s specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to be derived from blood.
“The drawback in neurological disease study is the limit of access to patient samples. Diagnosis is often made and confirmed by a patient’s autopsy samples. However, recent technological development has allowed patient’s specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to be derived from blood.
The iPSCs can serve as a platform to model the neurological diseases, so that we can better understand the disease’s characteristics and design the drugs for screening and testing.”
