“Each of our day care centres in Yishun have a van that provides transport services for our elderly clients. However, growing demand resulted in operational issues and delays in pick-ups.
To address these issues, our centre manager, senior physiotherapist and drivers came together to explore solutions. Some of the key changes made included re-organising the rehab schedule from individual slots to five structured slots for small groups. As a result, the number of transport trips was reduced while the number of passenger slots increased for each trip.

More importantly, group dynamics positively impacted the clients. Most of them require long-term rehab on a regular basis. When they exercise as a group, there’s more interaction and they become a source of support for one another.

The new arrangement also increased our therapy slots to 15 a day from just 12, and made it possible to extend contact time from 40 to 75 minutes.”
