I am part of a dynamic team of researchers and clinicians from SGH, Duke-NUS Medical School and NUS who have identified and patented a new small molecule that can grow blood stem cells from umbilical cord blood. This technology has created a new source of stem cells for adult transplantation. The next step for us is to embark on further studies and trials to see how best to incorporate the technology as a part of routine clinical practice to benefit patients.
