At the
age of 18, I knew that I wanted a career that would allow me to help others. I
eventually became an occupational therapist, a profession which has given me
countless opportunities to make a difference in people’s lives. It has been
nine years into the job and I remain driven by my passion to serve others. I
find satisfaction in helping my patients get their life back on track.
I am
also a passionate advocate for quality improvement. Some key quality
improvement projects that I was involved in include reducing errors in the
inpatient billing process, optimising the temperature of hot packs used in
therapy, and improving stock management. I feel that the work has led to
increased efficiency and better care for patients.
The satisfaction that I find
in seeing patients receive the care they deserve is what keeps me going. The
smile on my patients’ faces when they accomplish tasks they once thought were
impossible, reminds me that I’m in the right job.
