SingHealth and IHiS won an MOH Health IT Excellence Award in Excellence in Increasing Access to Care for their work on the Inpatient Medication Management Solution (IMMS).

IMMS integrates automated systems, hybrid medication distribution models, Inpatient Pharmacy Automation System (IPAS), Automated Medication Cabinets (AMCs), mobile carts, RFID tags and QR codes.   This integration enables the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) to achieve a complete Closed Loop Medication Management (CLMM) solution.

CLMM improves medication management and aims to achieve 50% reduction in medication supply and administration errors, administer 95% of urgent medication orders within one hour achieve 30% cost savings in medication inventory holding costs. 

The inaugural MOH Health IT Excellence Award was presented at the National Health IT Summit 2015, 7 January at Suntec City Convention Centre.

At the same event, SingHealth’s Chief Medical Information Officer, Associate Professor Loo Chian Min, was also awarded as a Champion for Health IT Excellence for being the driving force behind SingHealth’s efforts in harnessing IT to improve quality of care, uplift operational efficiency and enhance step down care.

Prof Loo, who is also head of SGH's Department of respiratory and critical care medicine is actively involved in numerous healthcare IT committees and workgroups at both cluster and national level. Under his leadership, two restructured hospitals (SGH and KK Women's and Children's Hospital) and one national specialty centre (National Heart Centre Singapore) have achieved HIMSS Stage 6.
