Allied health professionals (AHPs) make up more than 15 per cent of the workforce in SingHealth's nine Polyclinics. They play vital roles in the different aspects of investigative work and therapeutic care for patients in primary care.

To pave the way towards better care delivery and better alignment with SingHealth group's overall direction, SingHealth Polyclinics (SHP) has formed an allied health department in April 2017 and appointed Mrs Pauline Lo (above) as its Director.

Before this appointment, Mrs Lo had been SHP's Director of Pharmacy since the Polyclinics' establishment in 2000 during a national healthcare restructuring exercise. In her new role, Mrs Lo will provide leadership to the AHPs in improving care delivery.

She will also lead the integration of SHP's Pharmacy with departments of Dietetics, Laboratory & Radiology, Medical Social Work, Physiotherapy and Podiatry under the new allied health department, which has also established an education and research arm.

Mrs Lo said, "The new allied health department will bring together the expertise of our allied health and pharmacy professionals, to propel SHP to higher standards of holistic care and positively impact the lives of our patients."
