SingHealth and the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 5 February 2018 to mark the official launch of the “Quality Assurance through Clinical Leadership” programme in Sri Lanka.

The three-year partnership, supported by Temasek Foundation International, aims to build capabilities for 260 healthcare professionals in the areas of governance, service and clinical quality, process improvement and service integration.

“Strong healthcare leadership and governance is the foundation of an effective and efficient healthcare system that is needed to address the universal challenges we face in healthcare today. SingHealth is privileged to be part of this collaborative programme to strengthen healthcare leadership and clinical governance to enhance patient care in Sri Lanka.”

Professor Fong Kok Yong, Deputy Group CEO (Medical and Clinical Services), SingHealth

Over the course of the next three years, the SingHealth team will train 250 specialists and 10 healthcare leaders in Sri Lanka. A core team will be selected to become Master Trainers so that they can multiply the benefits of the training.

Along with 10 healthcare leaders from the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, this core team will attend a five-day exchange programme in Singapore that focuses on healthcare leadership, clinical governance and patient safety.

At the end of the programme, these Master Trainers will go on to train another 500 healthcare professionals from Sri Lanka.
