We are proud to have Associate Profs Chua Yeow Leng, Koo Wen Hsin and Lim Boon Leng among us to serve our patients. They are the 2016 recipients of the Distinguished Senior Clinician Award which recognises top performing senior clinicians who are leading experts in their fields and are role models to fellow colleagues.

They were honoured with the Ministry of Health-initiated award at the SingHealth Doctors and Dentists Long Service Award Ceremony 2017, held at St. Regis Hotel on 24 January 2017.

Associate Professor Koo Wen Hsin
Senior Consultant and Chairman, Division of Medicine, Sengkang Health

A medical oncologist by training, Prof Koo has strong standing in the medical community. Before leading the Division of Medicine at Sengkang Health, he has held various leadership roles including as Deputy Director at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), Group Director of Education at SingHealth and Chief Executive Officer for the Dover Park Hospice. He is a well-respected educator who has contributed significantly to the development of oncology in Singapore and the region.


Associate Professor Lim Boon Leng
Senior Consultant, Department of Anaesthesiology, SGH
Designated Institutional Official (DIO), SingHealth Residency

Prof Lim has held notable leadership roles in SGH, including as Director of Surgical ICU and Chairman of Anaesthesiology. Throughout his career, Prof Lim has also contributed to shaping public healthcare policy at the national level, being involved in various committees in the Ministry of Health. Under his stewardship as DIO of the SingHealth Residency, the program has grown remarkably.


Associate Professor Chua Yeow Leng

Prof Chua is key thought leader in the field of atrial fibrillation surgery and heart valve surgery. In fact, he pioneered the use of mitral valve repair surgery in Singapore. More than just an accomplished cardiac surgeon, he has also led medical teams on humanitarian missions to China, Myanmar, Vietnam and Papua New Guinea. Many leading cardiologists in Singapore have been mentored by Prof Chua.
