PM Lee Hsien Loong at the SGH Lecture & Formal Dinner 2022
Singapore, 24 April 2022 — Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong delivered the SGH Lecture at Singapore General Hospital’s (SGH) Lecture & Formal Dinner 2022 which was held at Shangri-La Singapore on Sunday, 24 April 2022.
Over 400 distinguished guests were invited on-site, with another 1,000 guests and colleagues joined in the highly anticipated occasion virtually.
The SGH Lecture was initiated in 1993 and has had many locally and internationally renowned leaders over the years share their vision and thoughts on a diverse repertoire of topics spanning healthcare, education and globalisation, providing thought-provoking insights and inspiration to the medical fraternity.
Launch of “Purpose with Passion: Our COVID-19 Stories”
At the event, PM Lee also launched a book chronicling the experiences and perspectives of colleagues in SGH through this pandemic, entitled “Purpose with Passion: Our COVID-19 Stories” put together by an editorial committee led by Chief Editor, Professor Tan Ban Hock, Senior Consultant, Department of Infectious Diseases.
The 10-chapter book is a compilation of stories from the Hospital staff on their fight against the uncertainties of the virus. The book also puts on record their raw emotions and struggles so that readers and future generation of healthcare workers will have a better appreciation of what they went through as well as glean the lessons learnt.
Professor Kenneth Kwek, CEO, SGH, in his foreword said, “The many first-hand accounts in this book speak to our humanity – our fears and anxieties, our despair when it seemed there was no end in sight, as well as the symbiosis of our actions. In the telling, some colleagues found psychological relief to openly express the strong emotions they felt, while others used the opportunity to pen thoughtful, reflective pieces. Most of all, everyone celebrated the special camaraderie born out of a shared Purpose, to serve with Passion when our community needed us most.”
Members of the public can access the e-version of the book which is available on SGH’s website – https://www.sgh.com.sg/OurCOVID-19Stories.
