​According to research by the National Neuroscience Institute, wake-up ischemic stroke is quite common, accounting for 33% or 213 people of the 642 acute ischemic stroke patients admitted at Singapore General Hospital. The survey and research showed that one in three stroke patients is a wake-up ischemic stroke patient. Around 14% of strokes occur in sleep, and wake-up stroke patients tend to be slightly older and their conditions are more severe.
