"My parents used to be against my decision of being a nurse.  They thought that a nurse's job was to clean up after someone, and at a meagre salary.  However, their perception of the nursing profession changed when my mother was stricken with renal failure in the early 90's.

From the time she started haemodialysis to her last breath in 2007, I cared for her as her daughter and private nurse.  I gave her the best care I could with the knowledge and skills I obtained as an Intensive Care Unit nurse.  I am glad I was able to do my best for her, just like how I have always done the same for my patients."
