Staff and teams from public and private healthcare institutions, as well as the community care sector, received the Singapore Health Quality Service Awards from President Halimah Yacob today

Singapore, 13 February 2023 – A total of 3,295 Silver, Gold, Star, Superstar and Best Team awards were presented to healthcare professionals and teams from 40 public and private healthcare institutions, and organisations from the community care sector today at the 13th Singapore Health Quality Service Awards (SHQSA) 2023. The awards ceremony was held at the University Cultural Centre, National University of Singapore, with President Halimah Yacob in attendance as the Guest of Honour.

The theme for this year’s awards, ‘Celebrating Healthcare’s Brightest Stars – Forging Ahead’ recognises the tireless work of healthcare professionals who have ridden the peaks and troughs of the COVID-19 pandemic, but continued to forge ahead through the challenges. The award recipients were selected based on testimonials from patients and colleagues for acts that go the extra mile, as well as the number of compliments and service awards received by the nominees. The award categories are as follows, with the Superstar and Best Team Awards being the pinnacle level of awards among the lot:

• Silver Category: 2,125 winners

• Gold Category: 803 winners

• Star Category: 347 winners

• Superstar Award: 14 winners

• Best Team Award: 6 winners

The 14 Superstar Awards were presented to the top ‘Exemplar Leader’ and ‘Exemplar Professional’ winners from the Clinician, Nursing, Allied Health, Administration and Ancillary groups. Meanwhile, the Best Team Awards were presented to teams which demonstrated outstanding efforts to improve patient experience and safety in the ‘Clinical Practice Improvement’ and ‘Patient Experience Improvement’ categories, and efforts that promote staff well-being and satisfaction in the ‘Joy At Work’ category.

SHQSA has been organised annually by SingHealth since 2011 and is Singapore’s first dedicated platform to honour outstanding healthcare professionals who have delivered quality care and service to patients. Over the years, the number of participating partners has grown, with this year’s awards seeing nominations from two new institutions for the first time – the National University Hospital and All Saints Home.
