​When I started work on cancer immunology and immunotherapy in 1997, people warned me that I was committing career suicide. It’s only in the last 5 years that it really exploded as a very exciting and clinically impactful field in the war against cancer! When doing research, go with your gut and have lots of grit and gumption!
