“The Nursing Angels Campaign is a great way to recognise the contribution of our nurses, while at the same time contributing to a truly worthy cause...."
In conjunction with International Self-Care Day on 24 July and Nurses’ Day on 1 August, our Joy @ Work (JAW) Nursing Workgroup initiated a staff giving campaign - “Celebrating Our Nursing Angels” for the whole of July. Through this campaign, colleagues could leave a note of appreciation to a nurse, and make a $10 donation (or more) in his or her name. All proceeds would go towards providing financial assistance to our patients in need.
As of 29 July 2022, more than 40 donations were received and accompanied with heartwarming appreciation notes dedicated to NHCS nurses.
“Nurses do so many things for our patients, yet ask for so little in return... The Nursing Angels Campaign is a great way to recognise the contribution of our nurses, while at the same time contributing to a truly worthy cause. Thanks again, NHCS Nurses!” shared A/Prof Chin Chee Tang, one of the first few staff who responded to the call in celebrating the hard work of our nursing angels.
A couple of the lovely thank you messages from our fellow colleagues to our nursing angels.
His sentiments are echoed by Assistant Director, Chua Lee Kheng from Nursing Development Unit (NDU), who is also the head honcho of the JAW Nursing Workgroup (
read more of their initiatives here). “We don’t amount much on our own, but together we can affect each other. This campaign fosters the act of kindness and appreciation which spreads joy in NHCS.”
In addition to thank you messages, each of our nursing angels received a specially curated gift put together by the JAW nursing workgroup.
Senior Nurse Manager (SNM) Lee from Ward 44, one of the recipients of the campaign, was surprised by the gesture. “It was a pleasant experience, and I did not anticipate it. This is a nice initiative, especially when you can do good by donating and appreciating your fellow colleagues both at the same time.”
A big thank you to our big-hearted colleagues for answering the call in celebrating our nursing angels, and contributing to a better quality of life for our patients – our hearts are indeed full. Not only have you put a smile on your colleague’s face, you also make a difference in our patients’ lives, with your generosity.
Do good and feel good – it does not take too much of your effort to brighten someone’s life. If you have any suggestions on raising funds for NHCS Heart To Heart Fund, please contact the Development Team at development@nhcs.com.sg.
