"My mentor said to me, that as a perfusionist I would have to hold one's life literally at my fingertips and that I am to care for this patient as if he/she was any of my family members lying on the operating table.  These words served as a constant reminder to me whenever I perform any procedure, guiding me through these years.

My job has changed quite a bit in the last 20 years, with advances in technology and improvements to our processes and workflows. It has been a challenging but very rewarding journey, reflected in the improved survival rates of paediatric patients in KKH.

My advice to all present and future perfusionists is to never say no and to continue learning. The different kinds of therapy, support and procedures will keep evolving and it is up to us to stay on top of the game."
