NNI neurosurgeons have teamed up with Singapore-based tech start-up Kyalio to create immersive virtual reality modules of different brain surgery procedures. Real life neurosurgical cases are filmed (with patient consent) and edited into five to 10 minute videos to give trainee neurosurgeons an insight into the real-world challenges they may face in the operating room, such as variations in anatomy. The library of videos is available on a subscription basis and is especially helpful in developing economies, where there are five times fewer surgical trainers per trainee than in developed countries.
