Diabetes puts you at risk of foot infections so it is important to check your feet daily and maintain good foot hygiene.
The Podiatry Department at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), a member of the SingHealth group, shares how people with diabetes can maintain proper foot hygiene.
How to maintain foot hygiene
| Wash your feet daily with soap and water. | ![]() |
| Wash well in between the toes and ensure that there are no foreign objects or dirt stuck inside. | ![]() |
| Dry your feet thereafter and ensure that spaces between the toes are dry. | ![]() |
| You can use an alcohol swab to further dry them out. | ![]() |
| White skin in between your toes occurs when too much moisture is present.
Clean the area with iodine, and separate the toes with gauze until the white skin goes off. | ![]() |
