Public can find out more about the 24-hour Acute Care Clinic which will open on 4 April 2016

Residents and members of the public who attend the open house event at Alexandra Hospital will have the opportunity to find out more about the 24-hour Acute Care Clinic, which will open on 4 April 2016 at the hospital to provide acute medical care. The clinic will benefit particularly those living in the vicinity of the Alexandra/Queenstown area.

With the completion of second phase renovations earlier in January, Alexandra Hospital now supports a suite of services from inpatient, outpatient to rehabilitative care across various medical specialties, including general medicine, general surgery and orthopaedic surgery.

The 24-hour Acute Care Clinic (ACC) will provide initial evaluation and management of walk-in patients only. For patients who are found to need more than basic care, blood and radiological investigations will be done. Patients found to be severely ill will be stabilised and transferred to emergency departments at the nearest public hospitals. Similarly, SCDF ambulances will not go to the ACC but transport patients directly from the point of pick-up to the nearest emergency department at the other public hospitals.

Participants at the Open House event can get a Health Check, receive health tips on chronic disease management, fall prevention, foot care and nutrition as well as go behind-the-scenes to visit the clinical labs, X-ray suites and specialist clinics at the hospital. They can also enjoy music performances by SKH’s “Arts in Healing” partner, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
