In his May Day message, PM Lee Hsien Loong spoke about the foreign worker cases in the dormitories. He mentioned that the S11 Dormitory in Punggol, which is Singapore's largest COVID-19 cluster, is being supported by Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) and highlighted that some of the residents at S11 had in fact helped to build SKH. He shared the story of a foreign worker warded in SKH, who had told his doctor that he had laid the tiles of the ward that he was staying at. The SKH medical team was moved and glad to be able to give back directly to the workers.

PM Lee thanked all in the labour movement, especially the frontliners in our country's fight against COVID-19 as well as the foreign workers, who are also heroes in our nation-building. He recollected how Singapore had pulled out all stops to contain the spread of infection. He said that when the circuit breaker period ends or when the number of infections comes down, we should be aware that the road to recovery will be long and hard and that we should continue to be vigilant and united to overcome the challenges as one nation.
