​Pop singer Justin Bieber has been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a complication of shingles that occurs when an outbreak impacts the facial nerve near one ear.

Those whose immune systems have weakened due to COVID-19 were not only more likely to be infected with the varicella-zoster virus (VZV), but they were also at higher risks of herpes zoster and may even develop facial paralysis. Dr Joanne Xie, Associate Consultant, Department of Neurology, National Neuroscience Institute explained that patients will have a higher chance of recovery if treated as early as possible.
