​In conjunction with this year's Nurses' Day, Berita Harian recognizes the contribution of nurses who are on the frontlines in this battle against COVID-19 and featured a story on sibling nurses, Fatanah Bin Arifeen, Senior Staff Nurse, Ward 27 Orthopaedic, SKH, and Firzanah Binte Arifeen, Staff Nurse, Emergency Department, SKH. Fatanah was transferred to the Acute Respiratory Infection ward from February to June this year to care for isolated patients and are required to undergo the COVID-19 swab test. With 10 years' experience, Fatanah shared that being a nurse provides him with the opportunity to give back to the community and allows him to gain knowledge and improve his skills throughout his career which he appreciates on top of the career stability. Firzanah shared that she was inspired by her brother to join the nursing profession having learned the roles and responsibilities of a nurse, as well as her mother who often encouraged her that a career in nursing allows her to help others. The fast-paced environment in the Emergency Department and the opportunity to meet new patients, giving her a new experience daily is what she enjoys most. Being in the nursing profession together allowed them to share a unique bond where they are able to relate and understand one another when sharing their work experiences.
