Prof Chay Oh Moh from KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital has been awarded as the first female Emeritus Consultant in SingHealth.   She has served in healthcare for 40 years. 

Often referred to as the ‘Mother’ of paediatric respiratory medicine in Singapore, Prof Chay has taught, trained and mentored countless students and trainees for over two decades. She also led the development of the Paediatrics programme in Duke-NUS Medical School.

The passionate educator truly believes in helping others: “Always remember that there are always people who are in difficult situations, but as long as you are willing to help them and give them an opportunity, they will bloom.”

In research, Prof Chay was the Director of the KKH Clinical Research Unit, and held several key positions in the National Medical Research Council Subcommittee on Cardiovascular and Respiratory Research.   Among the numerous awards she has received, her most recent was the Ministry of Health (MOH) National Day Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2016.
