"It is hard not to get second glances as a paediatric male nurse.  Being one of nine male nurses in KKH, I knew that my presence challenged social norms.   I initially thought that I would be handicapped as I would not able to nurse female patients without chaperone.  However, I have been increasingly asked to nurse young male patients who feel reserved towards my female colleagues. My 'handicap' has allowed me to protect the dignity of my male paediatric patients.

The support that my supervisors and colleagues have given has helped me to grow to love this busy environment.  Whether male or female, doctor or nurse, there is always teamwork and camaraderie to overcome any challenging day."
