A local study has uncovered the presence of virus-specific T cell immunity in people who recovered from COVID-19 and SARS, as well as some healthy study subjects who had never been infected by either virus. The research stated that these individuals might have been infected by other coronaviruses and thus the body generated these immunity T cells.The study, which involved scientists from Duke-NUS, NUS YLLSoM, SGH and NCID was published in the prestigious scientific journal Nature. Prof Antonio Bertoletti, Emerging Infectious Diseases Programme, Duke-NUS, who is the corresponding author of the study, was quoted in the ZB report.
