"I was one of the founders of the KK Alpine Blossoms Breast Cancer Support Group, a cohesive team of volunteers who organise various activities to raise funds. Amongst the many projects I initiated is the “Yarn Wonders” Project. It started in December 2015 and helps raise funds for needy patients through the sales of hand-knitted sling bags. Volunteers hand-knit sling bags that are sold to sponsors, who in turn, gift them to patients with breast cancer together with a personal message on a hand-made card.
Over two years, we have knitted close to 400 sling bags and have raised a few thousand dollars for needy patients through the KKH Health Fund. It is so gratifying to know that whatever I do, whether it be with nursing or the volunteers, can make a difference in the lives of patients."
