SKH Physiotherapist, Toh Song Choon, demonstrated the correct weightlifting techniques to prevent injury and pointed out common mistakes in weightlifting postures. He shared that in the gym, one can make use of the various equipment available to perform various exercises aimed at improving muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and cardiorespiratory fitness. It allows individuals to target the various components of fitness for the improvement of one’s general wellbeing, overall fitness and stamina, strength and mobility, self-confidence and sleep patterns. Longer term benefits include increasing life expectancy, decreasing the risk of disability while increasing the ability to function independently with age, reducing the risk of development and progression of chronic diseases.
