"Life as a doctor is not without challenges and setbacks. I remember a 10-year-old patient who went through a year of intensive treatment, including major surgery and several chemotherapies, but ultimately did not survive.
A few months later, I met her father who was working as a cleaner at a hawker centre and he told me: 'You know, she was my favourite daughter. I know you tried your best but, this is my biggest sorrow.'
His words really broke my heart and are a constant reminder for me to do my best. I count it a privilege to be part of each patient's journey and this always keeps me going."
