As a dietitian who specialises in Eating Disorders, I often see young patients who are struggling with food and weight issues, limiting their ability to live a full and fulfilling life. There was a patient I met who didn’t have the strength to get out of bed when she was first admitted to the hospital. She required many weeks of nutritional rehabilitation before she could be fit for discharge.

The most memorable moment was when she returned for her outpatient appointment, full of energy, telling me that she was anxious yet excited about the dinner appointment she had planned with a friend that day. Her transformation from a fragile being to one who embraces life with enthusiasm never fails to amaze me.
