13 March 2021 – Mdm Hawa Binte Haron, 74, lives with her husband, and gets visits from her children during the weekends. With a history of liver transplant and multiple medical conditions such as kidney failure, hypertension and diabetes, Mdm Hawa stays at home most of the time due to her mobility issue, leaving her home only three times a week for her dialysis sessions, which her husband wheels her to. Under the Neighbours for Active Living (“Neighbours” in short) programme by South East Community Development Council (CDC) and Changi General Hospital (CGH), Mdm Hawa was introduced to Ms Verone Loh, a 61-year old volunteer, so as to increase her social participation.
