"For patients undergoing transplant, the Operating Theatre (OT) can be a 'cold' environment with unfamiliar faces behind surgical masks. An empathetic touch and kind words go a long way to comfort them and make them feel at ease. There was a patient who shared with me that that his greatest wish was to be given the gift of suitable liver for a transplant. In the OT, I held his hand to reassure him and wished him all the best in his surgery. He smiled. It's the little things that make a difference in our patients' lives."
