Don't face breast cancer alone! The North East Community Development Council (NECDC) will launch a North East Cancer Warrior Support Scheme to provide breast cancer screening and treatment support for low-income families in the North East District.
Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in Singapore today. In fact, one out of every 13 women in Singapore is likely to be affected by breast cancer.
All women are at risk of developing breast cancer and this risk increases if you:
Are aged 50 years and above
Have a family history of breast cancer
Importance of breast cancer screening
When breast cancer is found at an early stage, more treatment choices may be available and the chance of a complete recovery is higher. Going for regular mammograms is the most reliable way to detect breast cancer, even before lumps can be felt.
Support for low-income families in the North East district
In May 2023, the North East Community Development Council (NECDC) will be launching an initiative to support women from the low-income families who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Singaporean Citizens aged 50 and above with a Blue CHAS Card are invited to have their mammogram screening done.
If you have received a diagnosis of breast cancer post-screening, NECDC will provide financial assistance of $10,000 to support your journey to recovery.
