​Swallowing Exercises for Dysphagia: Masako Maneuver

The Masako Maneuver ​is an exercise to strengthen the back of the tongue to improve swallowing in Parkinson's disease patients.

​How to do the Masako Maneuver exercise

Objective

To strengthen the back of the tongue.

Instructions

1. Stick your tongue out and hold it between your teeth and lips.

2. You can use gauze to hold it if necessary.

3. Swallow saliva with your tongue in this position.

4. Release your tongue.

5. Do this ____ times.

舌喉呑咽运动

用途
有助于加强舌头尾端与喉部内后侧的挤压动作,以便改善呑咽功能。

指示

​1. 把舌头伸出来,然后用牙齿或纱布/毛巾将舌头轻轻地握着。

2. 保持以上舌头的姿势,闭着嘴然后呑口水。

3. 呑咽后就放松。

4. 重复上述的步骤 _____ 次。

*若口腔感觉干燥,可用少许的清水将口腔湿润后才进行练习。
