MESSAGE BY MR DESMOND LEE,MINISTER IN CHARGE OF SOCIAL SERVICES INTEGRATION FOR THE LAUNCH OF “VISION BEYOND SIGHT” ON 25 OCTOBER 2025, SATURDAY, 10AM
AT GARDENS BY THE BAY, ACTIVE GARDEN
This year marks a significant milestone for the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) as it celebrates 35 years of dedicated service. Since its founding, SNEC has been at the forefront of advancing eye care and supporting persons with visual impairment, not just through medical excellence, but through compassion, inclusion, and partnership.
Over the past three and a half decades, SNEC has grown into a national institution that embodies both innovation and heart. Its commitment extends beyond specialised eye care to building a community that empowers persons with visual impairment to live life fully and meaningfully. My warmest congratulations to SNEC on this remarkable journey and the many lives it has touched along the way.
As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead. The “Vision Beyond Sight” initiative reminds us that inclusion is a shared effort. By working hand in hand, across health, education, social, and community sectors, we can build a Singapore where every person, regardless of ability, can pursue their goals and reach their fullest potential. I am heartened to see partners such as SG Assist and others coming together to champion this vision.
Let us continue to work together towards a future where every person, regardless of circumstance, is empowered to live with dignity, independence, and purpose. Congratulations once again to SNEC on your 35th anniversary. May your next chapter continue to bring light, clarity, and hope to many more.
