Baby development milestones: 3 months old

  1. Your baby is able to hold his or her head in midline and the movements of the arms and legs are smoother and more continuous.
  2. Bring his or her hands from side to midline and kick his or her legs alternatively, or sometimes, together.
  3. Raise head and chest when lying on stomach.
  4. Support upper body with arms when lying on stomach.
  5. At this stage, your baby's visual alertness increases, especially to nearby human faces. Your baby can attentively follow movements around him or her, as well as move hands when at play.
  6. Your baby now enjoys bathing and other caring routines and begins to react to pleasurable and familiar situation with smiles, increased vocalising of "coos" and "gaas" and excited movements.
  7. Establishes eye contact.
  8. Takes increasing interest of the surroundings.
  9. Begins to vocalise. Smiles in response to speech.
  10. Turns head towards the direction of sound.
